2026 NSW Country Championships Wrap-up

Congratulations to our 24 swimmers who competed last weekend at the New South Wales Country Championships at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre.
The country champs have always been great fun. They give bush kids—-some driving for six or more hours—the opportunity to come to the big smoke and give their all representing small communities who take great joy in all sorts of achievements. To some, these champs are like Olympic Games.
Woden’s swimmers produced some exceptional results. Firstly, they represented the club with respect and enthusiasm. It was terrific to see our competitors shaking hands and fist-bumping rivals before and after races. Great spirit!
We featured high on the medal table with a total of 12 gold, 3 silver and 8 bronze. Sarah, Linus, Max, Campbell, Indy, Huon, Heath, Iggy, Matt and Adam all came away with glinting chests. Also, a huge shout out to the boys’ 15 and over 4x 50 medley relay (Indy, Adam, Max, Huon) and 4x 50 freestyle relay (Max, Campbell, Heath, Huon) who blitzed their rivals.
There was also a swag of PB’s. Well done all swimmers! Your performances and behaviour did the club proud.
Thank you to coaches Jasmine and Steve who were on deck throughout the champs while Yuriy was on the Gold Coast at the Para Swimming World Series with Alex, Riley and Jasmine. Thank you all to all coaches who under Yuriy’s leadership continue to help our youngsters have fun, strive for their goals, and learn from the community sport journey.
Well done all swimmers! Your performances and behaviour did the club proud. Onwards to the next event.
