ACT area Speedo Sprint Heats
This year, 2016, the Speedo Sprint Heats for the ACT area have been included in the ACT Championships.
Swimmers age 13 and under can participate in the Speedo Sprint program which consists of the 50m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and buttlerfly events.
To be considered for inclusion in the Speedo Sprint Series swimmer must notify the Speedo Sprints Heats Co-ordinator, Lorraine Wuth, that they want to be a participant in the Series. Notification must be made no later than 11:00am on Saturday 6 February for swimmers aged 9 to 13 years and by 9:30am on Sunday 7 February for swimmers aged 8 and under.
Age for the Speedo Sprint Series is as at 6 February 2016.
Ribbons will be awarded to swimmers who have indicated that they are participating in the Series and are ranked first, second or third in 50m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly for ages 8 and under, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 years except swimmers who won a medal at state Championships in the 2015-16 summer season as they cannot compete in that stroke as part of the Speedo Sprint Series.
Swimmers aged 8 to 13 years may represent Swimming ACT at the Speedo Sprint Finals being held at SOPAC on Sunday 6 March. The first 4 ranked swimmers who have indicated that they are able to attend the finals will represent us. The finals program has 50m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly events for ages 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 years. There are also relay events at the Finals.
To compete at the finals competitors must be registered swimmers.

This year Swimming ACT has arranged for a bus to travel up to the Finals and return. The bus will leave from outside of the AIS pool and pickup passengers in Goulburn and Sutton if required. Seats on the bus will cost $30 for the return trip.
For a swimmer to participate in the Speedo Sprint Series you need to either
- send an email to Lorraine (lwuth@hups.net) with the following information:
- Swimmers name
- Contact details for their parent/guardian (name, phone, email address)
- Whether they are available to swim at the finals in Sydney on Sunday 6 March
OR
- complete the form (Speedo Sprints FORM) and hand it in at the Recording Table at the Championships.
