IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL MEMBERS – Please read!!!

Dear Parents and Swimmers

Woden Valley Swim Club understands the importance of being a child safe organisation. We maintain child safety standards through our policies, approaches to risk management and monitoring and reporting of suspect or inappropriate behaviours.

Our Club has adopted the SAFE SPORT FRAMEWORK, introduced by Swimming Australia, in which outlines best practice principles, policy, procedures and resources to better safeguard children in our sport; and clarifies expectations of us all.  It is an essential part of our commitment to child safety and tackling inappropriate behaviour in a timely way.  It assists in ensuring that every person involved in our sport is treated with respect and dignity, is safe and protected from harm and abuse.  It is the responsibility of all Club Members who act in a voluntary capacity, to acknowledge and promote these policies wherever possible.

If at any time you have concerns about someone’s safety or welfare, please report your concerns immediately to our Club’s Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO), Lisa Thornton, who can be contacted via email at mpio@wodenswimclub.org.au.

“Member Protection Information Officers play an important role in sport. They provide information and guidance on complaints procedures – they are the first point of call for any enquiries, concerns or complaints around harassment and abuse under the Member Protection Policy within the Safe Sport Framework.”
