MEET REPORT : 2017 NSW SC Country Championships

We had an amazing team of Sharks compete at the 2017 NSW SC Country Championships held at SOPAC, Sydney on Saturday, 1 July and Sunday, 2 July 207 including:- Amy, Jarrod, Jessica, Kurt, Jake N, Ben, Jasmine, Eric and Yaroslav.

Our Sharks competed at such a high standard and were fantastic competitors.  To put the Championships into perspective, there were 765 competitors from 79 swimming clubs across New South Wales.  Our Club PLACED 16TH on the combined Team Scores which is an amazing achievement considering our team consisted of 9 competitors (29th largest in terms of number of competitors). 

Our Club PLACED 12TH on the Medal Count, bringing home 6 MEDALS with 4 being GOLD, and 2 BRONZE. 

To look at our achievements amongst the ACT Teams, our Club PLACED 3RD on the combined Team Scores (Ginninderra placing 1st having 38 competitors and Tuggeranong Vikings placing 2nd having 29 Competitors).  Our Club also PLACED 3RD on the Medal Count, with Ginninderra placing 1st and Canberra placing 2nd.

It was an amazing weekend and all our Sharks should be extremely proud of their efforts.  THANK YOU Coach Steve for your continual coaching, mentoring and support and CONGRATULATIONS to all our amazing Sharks for your wonderful achievements throughout this championship event.

AMY competed at her FIRST Country Championship in 5 events, including:-

  • Girls 12yo 100m Butterfly, placing 27th with a 0.48 second PB;
  • Girls 11-12yo 50m Freestyle, placing 23rd with a 0.11 second PB;
  • Girls 12yo 100m Backstroke, placing 23rd;
  • Girls 12&U 200m Freestyle, placing in the TOP 10 at 10th  Place with a 1.02 second PB;
  • Girls 12yo 100m Freestyle, placing in the Top 20 at 16th Place with a 0.79 second PB.

JARROD competed in 6 events, even though recovering from a gastro bug just prior to competition, including:-

  • Boys 15&O 100m Butterfly, placing in the Top 20 at 16th Place with a 0.45 second PB;
  • Boys 15&O 200m Individual Medley, placing in the TOP 10 at 9th Place;
  • Boys 15&O 200m Butterfly, placing in the Top 20 at 11th Place with a 1.58 second PB;
  • Boys 15&O 200m Freestyle, placing in the Top 20 at 13th Place;
  • Boys 15&O 100m Freestyle, placing in the Top 20 at 20th Place;
  • Boys 15&O 200m Backstroke, placing in the TOP 10 at 7th Place.

JESSICA competed in 7 events, bringing home a MEDAL, including:-

  • Girls 13-14yo 200m Backstroke, placing in the TOP 10 at 7th Place;
  • Girls 14yo 100m Butterfly, placing in the TOP 10 at 4th Place; with a 1.6 second PB;
  • Girls 4&U 400m Individual Medley, placing in the TOP 10, achieving a BRONZE MEDAL with a HUGE 16.77 second PB;
  • Girls 13-14yo 200m Butterfly, placing in the TOP 10 at 4th Place; competing this event short course for the first time;
  • Girls 13-14yo 200m Individual Medley, placing in the TOP 10 at 4th Place;
  • Girls 13-14yo 200m Freestyle, placing in the TOP 10 at 10th Place; and
  • Girls 14yo 100m Freestyle, placing in the Top 20 at 11th Place with a 0.03 second PB.

KURT competed in 5 events, including:-

  • Boys 11-12yo 50m Freestyle, achieving a 0.19 second PB;
  • Boys 11yo 100m Backstroke, placing in the TOP 10 at 10th Place;
  • Boys 11&U 50m Backstroke, placing in the Top 20 at 13th Place;
  • Boys 11yo 100m Freestyle, placing in the TOP 10 at 10th Place with a 0.81 second PB; and
  • Boys 11&U 50m Butterfly.

JAKE N competed in 2 events, including:-

  • Boys 13yo 100m Breaststroke, placing in the Top 20 at 19th Place with a 0.71 second PB; and
  • Boys 13-14yo 200m Breaststroke, placing in the Top 20 at 18th Place.

BENJAMIN competed in 4 events, including:-

  • Boys 10&O 50m MC Butterfly, placing in the TOP 10 at 5th Place with a 1.48 second PB;
  • Boys 10&O 50m MC Freestyle, placing in the TOP 10 at 6th Place with a 0.17 second PB;
  • Boys 10&O 50m MC Backstroke, placing in the TOP 10 at 6th Place; and
  • Boys 10&O 50m MC Breaststroke, placing in the TOP 10 at 6th Place with a 0.29 second PB.

JASMINE competed in 2 events with a 100% PB rate, including:-

  • Girls 15&O 50m Freestyle, achieving a 0.28 second PB, cracking the 30 second mark; and
  • Girls Open 50m Breaststroke, placing in the Top 20 at 19th Place with a 0.35 second PB.

ERIC competed in 2 events with a 100% PB rate, including:-

  • Boys 11&U 50m Breaststroke, achieving a 1.01 second PB; and
  • Boys 11yo 100m Breaststroke, placing in the Top 20 at 17th Place with a 1.22 second PB.

YAROSLAV competed in 8 events with a 100% PB rate, bringing home 5 MEDALS including:-

  • Boys 11yo 100m Butterfly, placing in the TOP 10 at 4th Place, with a HUGE 5.55 second PB; and breaking the Woden Swim Club SC Record in this event;
  • Boys 11-12yo 50m Freestyle, placing in the TOP 10 at 5th Place, with a 0.22 second PB; and breaking the Woden Swim Club SC Record and the Swimming ACT SC Record in this event;
  • Boys 11yo 100m Backstroke, placing in the TOP 10 at 4th Place, with a 1.35 second PB;
  • Boys 11&U 50m Breaststroke, placing in the TOP 10 achieving a GOLD MEDAL with a 1.77 second PB; and breaking the Woden Swim Club SC Record in this event;
  • Boys 11yo 100m Breaststroke, placing in the TOP 10 achieving a GOLD MEDAL with another HUGE 6.82 second PB; and breaking the Woden Swim Club SC Record in this event;
  • Boys 11&U 50m Backstroke, placing in the TOP 10 achieving a BRONZE MEDAL with a 0.69 second PB; and breaking the Woden Swim Club SC Record in this event;
  • Boys 11yo 100m Freestyle, placing in the TOP 10 achieving a GOLD MEDAL with a 2.50 second PB; and breaking the Woden Swim Club SC Record and the Swimming ACT SC Record in this event;
  • Boys 11&U 50m Butterfly, placing in the TOP 10 achieving a GOLD MEDAL with a 1.95 second PB; and breaking the Woden Swim Club SC Record in this event.
