November 2023 Club Meet

Our final meet of the 2023 year will be a special event – a club night at the Australian Institute of Sport with full electronic timing and splits on 100 and 200m events.

We will be holding this club meet on Sunday morning the 26th of November, and it’s a great opportunity to get long course official times, with touch pad timing, and practice racing at the AIS! If you are new to the club and have been wanting to experience racing at the AIS in a friendly and non-pressured environment, this is the perfect opportunity. If you are swimmer looking for PBs or qualifying times, then this is also a great opportunity. As always it there will be fun racing and a chance to improve your times and score points for our club championship.

Warm-up will commence at 8.30am and racing will commence at 9.15am.

We expect to be finished racing by around 11 – 11.30am and will have a pancake breakfast at the conclusion of racing.

This meet will be run long course (7 lanes – to allow for warm-up and cool-down). Times will be official.

Costs

As we are hiring the AIS facilities for this meet, there is an additional cost of this club meet. A one-off meet fee of $15 for each swimmer will cover the lane hire, pool entry and help offset the breakfast costs. This fee will apply whether you are swimming 1,2 or 3 events. When you do your entry through Swim Central the meet fee will be applied. Swimmers do not need to purchase any additional entry tickets.

Parents and other spectators will need to purchase a spectator ticket to be able to enter the AIS, these are available on the event under the products tab in Swim Central.

Events

This meet will include a 200m event in every stroke. If swimmers wish to swim a 200m event then they can only enter for 1 stroke as heats will be combined. There will be 25/50/100m in all strokes and a 200IM. You may swim the 200IM and another 200m event at the end of the program.

There is a maximum of 3 events per swimmer and you cannot enter a 25 and 50m event in the same stroke. For those with times under 30 seconds (35 seconds for breaststroke) for 25m please give the 50m event a go. Entries may not be accepted for 25m events if you are significantly under 30 seconds or have achieved a time under this mark more than once.

Officials and timekeepers

As always, we cannot run club meets without volunteers! A duty roster is available via Team App or you can contact Amanda or Nic (wvscracesecretary@wodenswimclub.org.au) to let us know what you’d like to help out with. Most roles require no experience or training and if you’d like to try a new role, let us know in advance and we can organise some training and/or mentoring during the meet.

As there is spectator entry fee at the AIS we will waive this for anyone on the officials roster, so you do not need to buy a spectator ticket if you signed up to help out.

Club Night Point score

Don’t forget that all your swims at Club meets throughout the Calendar year count towards the Club Night Point score and age champion awards. The details on how improvement points are calculated are on the website.

This is the final chance to score points for the 2023 club awards (to be presented 2 December). You may wish to check your point scores and previous swims to determine which events may score you the most points.

The pointscore tables have been updated to include all club meets up to 14 November. Improvement points scored in past club meets are also included on our club nights web page if you wish to check which events and times you have swum.

Breakfast BBQ

A pancake breakfast will follow racing. All families and swimmers are welcome to stay and enjoy some breaky and a chat. Assistance with cooking and preparing the food would be appreciated. Please nominate on the duty roster.
