We are trialling moving our club meets to Saturday mornings, and our first Saturday meet will be our upcoming meet on Saturday 2 April! We will have access to the centre for dryland and stretching for those swimmers who are interested from 7.30am with warm-up in the water for all swimmers from 8am. The meet will start at 8.30am with a 10am finish. Due to water-polo this meet will utilise the North (shallow end) of the 50m pool and the scoreboard will be unavailable for our use. Results will be printed and available during and after the meet.
This meet will be run short course and times will be official (as long as we get enough volunteers and timekeepers). The short course format means that the 100IM is back on the event list and our 200m event will be the 200m Free.
There is a maximum of 4 events per swimmer and you cannot enter a 25 and 50m event in the same stroke. For those with times under 30 seconds (35 seconds for breaststroke) for 25m please give the 50m event a go. As usual there will be 25/50/100 m events in all strokes.
For all our new swimmers, and those getting into racing, come along and give it a go! Club meets are a fun and supportive environment to try new events and distances and practice your racing.
Entries are via Swim Central: https://swimcentral.swimming.org.au/bounce?returnUrl=%2Fevents%2F5a7adbe2-7170-44c8-8ac7-6a4ab599b281%2Fdetail
Unregistered siblings are also welcome, please email our club night coordinator, Karinda, at: wvsc.clubnight@wodenswimclub.org.au with your swimmer’s name, DOB and the events they would like to enter. Our new Masters squad have been training hard, and all Masters swimmers are also welcome. If you aren’t on Swim Central please also email the above details to Karinda and we will put an entry in for you.
Entries close next Wednesday 30 March at 8pm. No late entries please! If you have any issues with entering via Swim Central please email Karinda asap and we will sort it out. Due to pool availability, if the timeline extends beyond 10am we will close entries early, so please enter ASAP.
As always, we cannot run club meets without volunteers! A duty roster will be available via Team App or you can contact Karinda to let us know what you’d like to help out with. Most roles require no experience or training and if you’d like to try a new role, let us know in advance and we can organise some training and/or mentoring during the meet.
This post will be updated with the entry list for checking (Thursday the 31st) and the seeded program and timeline (Friday 1 April). Please check back here for those documents if you haven’t received them via email from the race secretary. We are having issues with our email servers sending out bulk emails so documents will be added to this post when available for your convenience.
Entry list, timeline and program:
We are looking forward to seeing many of you on Saturday the 2nd!
