Our belated report and photos from our March club night.
What a night! We had 60 swimmers and a massive haul of 78 PB’s.
It was fantastic to see our squad members brothers or sisters having a go too, with the addition of our visiting swimmers form Telopea, Burley Griffin and Vikings it great to see everyone having a good time.
Results are available below and have been uploaded to Swim Central:
It was fantastic to be able to finish off with a mixed relay which was the first time we were able to do this since before COVID hit so it was our first at Stromlo. We will try and get a team photo at our next club night!
Lastly a big thanks to:
- Mel our club night coordinator for pull ling this together;
- Lorraine for giving up her time to support Mel in setting this up in Swim Central and getting all the manual entries in and preparing the paperwork ready for the night;
- Nic and Anto for helping with scoreboard and race results plus refereeing;
- Nick and Amy for running warmups;
- Kate and Amy for marshalling and check starting;
- Marcus for all his organising, and
- All our parents who helped with time keeping.
The night just wouldn’t be so successful without you all! It would be great to get some of our new and more experienced parents trained up on different jobs so we can have a team of people to help out at both club nights and other meets. Time-keepers are always needed but there are plenty of other jobs to be filled for each meet and new and interesting skills to learn. It would be ideal if we could have a team of skilled-up volunteers so we can rotate the jobs around and run meets even when we have people away! If anyone is interested in learning one or more of the roles we are planning to run some training soon, and the upcoming club nights are also a great time to learn under with help from other parents, in a low-stress environment.
Upcoming club night
Our May club night is just around the corner – 28 May! Meet information will be out in the next few days, so keep your eyes out. We hope to see you there!
