Australian swimmers took on the World’s best at the 2017 International Federation of Intellectual Impairment Sport (INAS) Swimming World Championships in Aguascalientes, Mexico from the 29th of November to the 4th of December.
It was the first time the first INAS Swimming Championships was held in the Americas with more than 150 athletes from 20 countries competing. Included in the AUSTRALIAN TEAM was our very own Club Captain BENJAMIN STOKES.
BEN competed in 10 individual events, including:-
- Men 200m Individual Medley MC, achieving 12th Place;
- Men 800m Freestyle MC, achieving 7th Place with a HUGE 7 second PB;
- Men 400m Freestyle MC, achieving 8th Place;
- Men 50m Backstroke MC, achieving 9th Place;
- Men 200m Freestyle MC, achieving 11th Place;
- Men 100m Backstroke MC, achieving 9th Place with a 1 second PB;
- Men 50m Butterfly MC, achieving 15th Place;
- Men 50m Breaststroke MC, achieving 12th Place;
- Men 100m Butterfly MC, achieving 16th Place with a 1 second PB; and
- Men 100m Breaststroke MC, achieving 14th Place.
Ben also competed in the following relay events:-
- Men 4x50m Freestyle Relay MC, where the Australian team achieved 4th Place;
- Men 4x100m Freestyle Relay MC, where the Australian team achieved 5th Place;
- Men 4x50m Medley Relay MC, where the Australian team achieved 5th Place;
- Men 4x200m Freestyle Relay MC, where the Australian Team achieved 6th Place; and
- Men 4x100m Medley Relay MC, where the Australian Team achieved 6th Place.
