Our very own Katie (Catherine Senior) who trains with Bronze Squad is competing for Australia at the Trisome Games being held in Florence, Italy.
On the 15th July 2016, hundreds of athletes with Down syndrome arrived in Florence Italy for the Trisome Games. This is a multi-coded event which includes swimming, athletics, table tennis, futsal, judo, tennis and gymnastics. A total number of 207 swimmers from 30 countries will be participating in the swimming championships. The participating countries are Albania, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Croatia, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Macau, Mexico, Portuga, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, South, Africa, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, United States America and Venezuela. Swimming competition started on the 17th July.
So far, Katie has competed in the 100m Backstroke; 50m Freestyle; 100m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly and still has the 50m Backstroke; 50m Breaststroke; and the 200m Individual Medley to go.
