We had 11 Sharks compete at the Burley Griffin Qualifying Meet held over the weekend (10 & 11 October 2015), including Yaroslav, Mason, Jasmine, Kiara, Jake, Ethan, Jessica L, Jarrod, Patrick H, Patrick D and Alexis.
All our swimmers had a great meet with many long course PBs broken, medals received, and Country, State and National qualifying times achieved. A number of highlights include:-
- Alexis achieved a 3.91 second PB in her 200m Backstroke, a Bronze Medal in her 200m Backstroke, 200m Freestyle; and a Silver Medal in her 100m Breaststroke, 200m Breaststroke and 400m IM;
- Patrick D achieved 4th place in the Male 15 & Over 50m and 100m Breaststroke;
- Patrick H achieved a 2.34 second PB and 2.78 seconds in his 200m IM and 100m Freestyle respectfully;
- Jarrod achieved PBs for 3 of his 4 events and received a Gold Medal in all his events: 100m Backstroke, 100m Butterfly, 100m Freestyle and 400m IM. He also qualified for Nationals in his 100m Backstroke, 100m Butterfly and 400m IM. Well Done!
- Jessica L achieved a PB in her 50m Butterfly and 50m Freestyle events;
- Ethan took 30.91 seconds off his 400m Freestyle time, qualifying for NSW State Age Champs and achieved a PB for his 200m split;
- Jake achieved PBs for 6 of his 7 events. A 2.82 second PB in his 100m Backstroke, 2.25 seconds in his 100m Breaststroke receiving Gold, 10.12 seconds in his 200m Breaststroke receiving Gold and qualifying for NSW State Age Champs, 4.27 seconds in his 200m IM receiving Gold and qualifying for NSW State Age Champs, 2 seconds in his 50m Breaststroke and 0.61 seconds in his 100m Freestyle receiving Bronze.
- Kiara took 8.59 seconds off her 100m Butterfly receiving Gold and qualifying for NSW State Age Champs, 3.30 seconds in her 200m IM receiving Silver and also PBd in her 100m Freestyle receiving Bronze, a PB in her 50m Backstroke and received Bronze in her 100m Backstroke.
- Jasmine achieved a 0.97 second PB in her 50m Butterfly, 1.02 seconds in her 100m Freestyle and received a Silver Medal in her 50m Breaststroke.
- Mason achieved PBs for 4 of his 6 events. A 5.22 second PB in his 100m Backstroke receiving Gold and qualifying for NSW State Age Champs, 1.58 seconds in his 100m Breaststroke, 1.07 seconds in his 50m Backstroke and 1.67 seconds in his 100m Freestyle receiving Gold.
- Yaroslav achieved a 100% PB rate for the meet including an 8.86 second PB for his 200m IM, qualifying for NSW State Age Champs, and received Silver Medals for his 50m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle. Yaroslav broke the Woden Swim Club records for the 9yo Boys LC 50m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, 50m Breaststroke, 50m Butterfly and the 200m Individual Medley. Yaroslav is now the new ACT Resident Long Course record holder for the Boys 9 Years 50m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly. Congratulations!
